What a Difference a Day Makes
It's starting to warm up out there and everything is melting. We decided to take a hike and see how many trees we lost in the last storm.
The ground is so soggy with all the rain and flooding we have had that some of the trees fall over roots and all.
Some of the downed trees and branches were dead to start with so it is not surprising that a lot of them came down.
Some of the big leaf maples are covered with so much moss and ferns that they can hold a ton of snow.
This huge branch just snapped off at the trunk.
Now we have a bridge to the island if you are adventurous enough to venture across it.
Yesterday my huckleberry looked like this. I was worried about it's survival.
Today it looks like this.
On of my favorite things to photograph besides birds are water drops so bear with me here.
Awesome.
These are salmon-berry.
I bet they are going to be flowering by next weekend. Especially if this over 50 degree weather continues.
So, spring is around the corner. Most of these downed trees will become part of the snags that the wildlife will love. Some we will clear to keep our hiking paths open.
